As an artist sometimes finding the balance between art and commerce in work is complicated.
At the time, early into my freelance career, I was intrigued by folks who had actually done it. Through letterpress —something that can seem industrialized, process-oriented, and on the opposite end of the spectrum from unfettered creativity — Kathryn found that balance. She worked hard, remained true to her passions, and uses the mental space and time that the security of running a thriving business cultivates to continue making gallery-worthy creations as her time allows. Hopefully, her story contains lessons and inspiration for others on a similar path.
